ANNOUNCEMENTS
CHOIRS ARE STARTING UP SOON - Now's the time to think about the fall start-up of choirs, and to consider joining in on all the fun we'll be having this year. Bill has been pouring over music all summer, and is looking forward to revving up our worship music. He wants YOU to be a part of it. He NEEDS you to be a part of it. If you don't sing, we'll need you to play a drum or bells. If you can count to 4, you can play in our band!
My theme for this season is based on Galatians 6:7-9. To paraphrase, the passage says we shall reap what we sow, and that when we plant in the Spirit, and persevere in goodness, we will harvest in abundance. I believe this passage applies perfectly to this church's ministry, and our renewed commitment to growth through radical hospitality. We are a busy little church, and the excitement is building. Our music ministry is changing to keep up with this new vision, and we need all the help we can get. You already come on Sunday mornings; maybe you can add Wednesday evenings to that commitment? I'm planting this seed in the Spirit, asking you to pray on it, and I'm confident we will reap a harvest.
Chancel Choir rehearsal will tentatively begin at the homestead of Steve and Cindy Depoe on September 1, with potluck fellowship at 6pm, followed by rehearsal at 7:30 to 9. Handbell Choir will begin on September 8 at the church, with potluck fellowship at 5:30, followed by a rehearsal at 6:30 to 7:30, with Chancel Choir following. Rehearsals will be weekly Wednesdays at 6:30 for Handbells and at 7:30 for Chancel Choir from then on.
In every way, this is going to be a great year for Mt. Airy UMC. The music ministry is shaping up to be the best ever, and I hope you'll come be a part of it!
WE WILL RETURN TO SUNDAY SCHOOL AND REGULAR WORSHIP HOURS on Sunday, September 12th. 9:00 a.m. Sunday School for all ages, Worship at 9:00 and 10:15 a.m.
TEEN/ADULT DANCE LESSONS OFFERED AT MT. AIRY UMC!
Beginning September 3rd at 7:00 p.m., and offered on the 1st and 3rd Friday of each month, Roxie Hightchew will be offering low cost social dance lessons to a group of teens right here at Mt. Airy UMC. While he is gearing the class towards teens, adults are certainly invited, and we'd love to have more dancers. Bill and I plan to come to most of the classes, and we'd love the company. The teens will be choosing the curriculum on September 3rd, but Roxie mentioned the Foxtrot as a good place to start, and he hopes to have a room of ball room dancing competitors by April when the classes will end. We are asking for a $3 donation per person both to provide a small monetary gift to Roxie each week, plus provide snacks for after the dancing.
To RSVP, call Ange or Bill Flight at 522-4116, or e-mail us at ange@fuse.net. But if you feel spontaneous and haven't RSVP'd, by all means, come join us anyway!

OTTERBEIN HOMES - A 98 year old United Methodist related senior living ministry, located in the Ohio River Valley District of the WOC, has announced that their newest, 'nationally acclaimed', Avalon Small House Nursing Home Neighborhood, is scheduled for opening in Maineville around the first of October. It's a revolutionary licensed nursing home, that doesn't look or feel like a nursing home. A priority wait list has started, with reservations already placed on nearly half of the long term care rooms. For more info., contact Kelli Gescuk at: 513-267-8592 -kgescuk@avalonma.org
