Mission to Vietnam and Cambodia

Mt. Airy United Methodist Church is proud to have had five of its members participating in a Board of Global Ministries trip to Vietnam and Cambodia. Libby Hilton, Emily Heesten, Stephanie Heesten, Amy Bruestle and Nancy Hunter will traveled this past summer wtih fifteen other United Methodists from the West Ohio Conference for this mission trip, led by Rev. Shirley Cadle. The volunteers served as the eyes and ears of the United Methodist Church Board of Global Ministries. The team made contact with several United Methodist churches started in recent years in both Vietnam and Cambodia. They checked on the overall status of the churches, evaluated what medical, physical, emotional and spiritual needs should be met, as well as helped determine whether the area is ready for an expanded mission outreach. They ventured into areas where people have never heard of the United Methodist Church or Christianity. They also received training from Una Jones, a representative of the Board of Global Ministries and become a Liaison Team between the mission board and the local people. Since their return, they have told the story of the mission work in Vietnam and Cambodia to congregations in the West Ohio United Methodist Church to encourage a deeper level of support.

Keep these courageous volunteers in your prayers as they continue to represent Mt. Airy, the West Ohio Conference, the United Methodist and our Lord Jesus Christ to the people of Vietnam and Cambodia.
