Mt. Airy reaches out
Mt. Airy United Methodist Church has a strong commitment to serving the Mt. Airy community, Greater Cincinnati and the United Methodist Church. From rolling up our sleeves to help build a house to sharing God's Words thousands of miles away, Mt. Airy members are always making a difference.
On the last Sunday of every month, hundreds of carry-out meals are served through this outreach initiative. Anyone is welcome to take a free hot meal home - no strings attached! Meals are served from the kitchen in the Education Building at Mt. Airy from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m.
God's Bounty Thrift Shop
Household items, clothing, and other goods donated by church members are available at low cost from the Thrift Shop. Open Thursdays and Fridays 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
In conjunction with the Freestore/Foodbank, and through the generosity of donations from church members, the Senior High Youth Group creates bags of groceries and toiletries, which are available to community members in need once a month.
Mt. Airy Churches United is an ecumentical group joined to strengthen the spiritual and civic life of our congregations and the Mt. Airy community: Praise Chapel Church of God; St. Therese, Little Flower; Mt. Airy United Methodist; Impact Worship Center. Each year, one of the community events they organize is the Good Friday Way of the Cross. A near life-size wooden cross is carried through Mt. Airy, to remind people of Jesus' walk to his crucifiction.
Special Offerings
Donations are collected through four special offerings each year for church-wide Special Sundays. These enable the United Methodist Church to offer refuge in times of disaster, provide scholarships and student loans, reach out to the community, teach skills to encourage self-sufficiency, and share the love of Jesus Christ with God's people everywhere.
Church members prepare and serve highly-acclaimed chili in Over-the-Rhine each year through the NAST Trinity program.
Mission Trips
Members of Mt. Airy United Methodist Church have traveled across the country and around the globe to serve God's people. From building a church on a reservation in Oklahoma to conducting youth day camps in Bosnia to helping on a Habitat for Humanity house on a Saturday afternoon, Mt. Airy members are eager to serve. |
